Identifying Sources of Help
Many people who experience cancer find they need additional financial help during their illness. It can be helpful to identify these sources of help ahead of time, so you are aware of what is available to you should you need it. It is also helpful to understand how long it may take to apply and what kind of information is required. This financial tool can help you search through various charitable resources in each province. Make a list of the ones that may apply to your situation. Check to see if they are only available at certain times of the year, and how you apply. Check if they are “one time only” applications or if you can re-apply each year. If you need help navigating this list, or if letters of support are required for the applications, speak to your local cancer centre social worker or navigator.
