The holiday season may seem like it's still far off, but Giving Tuesday is almost here! While you're probably familiar with the shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday that come after the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday, you might not be as well-acquainted with the global day of giving that follows. This year, Giving Tuesday will take place tomorrow, on December 3rd. Established in the U.S. in 2012, Giving Tuesday is now a worldwide movement focused on generosity, giving, and volunteering. Although it’s officially observed on the first Tuesday after Black Friday, the spirit and impact of Giving Tuesday often extends well beyond just 24 hours.
Here are four reasons to consider giving to CBCN this year:
1. You can make a big difference
While Breast Cancer Awareness Month may be over, breast cancer patients, their families and caregivers still need support and resources, especially after the intense focus has faded. While many fundraising activities in October focus on “finding the cure”, the financial, practical, and educational support that patients require is something that continues day-to-day. CBCN is dedicated to helping people every day by offering resources and information to navigate this difficult journey.
2. You might inspire other people to give
Sharing about charitable giving on social media or with your friends and family can inspire others to give as well. Let people know you're supporting CBCN and encourage them to donate, too. In turn, offer to support their causes. Even small contributions can add up quickly, creating a larger impact for breast cancer patients across Canada!
3. Anyone can participate
While the focus of Giving Tuesday is often on providing financial support to important causes, there are many ways to participate. You can make a difference by sharing CBCN’s message on social media using the hashtag #GivingTuesday, hosting your own fundraising event in support of CBCN, or volunteer your time to help spread awareness about our cause.
4. You'll join a global movement
While Giving Tuesday may have started in the United States, its impact has spread around the world, with more than 100 countries participating. By supporting CBCN, you are part of a global movement of generosity with direct impact on the lives of Canadians facing breast cancer.
This year, CBCN is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Use Giving Tuesday as an opportunity to spark a chain reaction that helps us improve the lives of breast cancer patients, their families, and caregivers across Canada for years to come. You can donate one time or consider being a regular donor and make it a “Giving Tuesday” every month on our CanadaHelps page.
