A Clinical Psychologist Answers Your Questions the Mental Health Impacts of a Breast Cancer Diagnosis

A breast cancer diagnosis comes with so many questions and there never seems to be enough time at appointments to have some of these questions answered. To help address this, the Canadian Breast Cancer Network has put together a Q&E: Questions and Experts series. In this series, a variety of experts, including medical oncologists, genetic counsellors, social workers, drug access navigators, and many more, will spend the entire virtual session answering questions from participants. So now is the time to get answers to all the questions that there never seems to be enough time to ask.

In this session, Clinical Psychologist Dr. Karen Fergus answers all your questions about the mental health impacts of a breast cancer diagnosis.

Dr. Karen Fergus is a Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor with the Department of Psychology at York. She is cross appointed at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in the Odette Cancer Centre where she has been practicing as a clinician and researcher for 25 years. Much of her research has focused specifically on the psychosocial adjustment of women with breast cancer and their families.

In this session, participants will be able to get their questions about the mental health impacts following a breast cancer diagnosis answered. Questions can be asked during the event, or submitted in advance to Bukun at badegbembo@cbcn.ca using the subject line ‘psychologist question’.
