Advancements in Care for Metastatic Breast Cancer
In this webinar, Dr. Karen Gelmon, MD FRCPC, will review the latest information that patients should know about treatments for metastatic breast cancer.
Dr. Karen Gelmon is a Professor of Medicine at UBC and a medical oncologist who has combined clinical care with research and education with the goal of improving outcomes for persons with cancer. She is Chair of the UBC/BC Cancer research Ethics Board and is currently on the Medical Advisory Board for the Canadian Breast Cancer Network. Provincially she chaired the BC Cancer Breast Tumour Group and was clinical head of Advanced Therapeutics. At a national level, Dr. Gelmon was the co-chair of the Canadian Clinical Trials Group (formerly NCIC CTG) Breast Disease Site Committee, and Head of the NCIC Investigational New Drug Site. Internationally she was a Komen scholar and on the Scientific Advisory board for the Susan G Komen Foundation as well as a member of the Executive of the Breast International Group (BIG) and the North American Breast Cancer Steering Group. Dr. Gelmon is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and currently on the Medical Advisory Board for the Canadian Breast Cancer Network.
